| | Vivantes Hospital Group
Patients with liver metastases that seemed inoperable may now find a cure at Vivantes, Germany’s largest state-owned hospital group. The technique called ALLPS (Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy) enables surgeons to only remove the tumorous section of the liver, leaving the healthy part to grow. Vivantes chief physician Prof. Dr. Martin Loss belonged to the team that developed this technique, presently performed at just a handful of hospitals around the world.
